The scanner was previously connected to a Dell PC on a USB 3 port and also worked perfectly.
I have installed the same drivers and software and the scanner works perfectly on a USB 3 port. I have connected this scanner to my HP Pavilion Laptop which is installed with Windows 10 Home. If I remove all software and drivers, reboot and then turn on the scanner, Plug and Play detects it and sets up the device no matter what port it is connected to, but always end up with the same problem of not being able to connect to the scanner and actually use it. When connected to a USB 2 port the same message is always displayed ? If I fire up the scanner and camera program, select the scanner, right click, then select properties, I get the error "The scanner isn't available, Make sure the device is turned on and is connected to your computer". If I right click on the device and select 'Trouble shoot' I get a message which states this device is not supported on USB 3, reconnect to USB 2.
The Device Manager shows the device working properly and if I fire up the Control Panel and select Devices and Printers I can see the scanner and can right click and select properties and interrogate the device with no problem. I have connected my Xerox Documate 152i to a USB 2 port ( have also tried a USB 3 port ) and loaded the scanner software / drivers and also updated to the latest version of the drivers. All the latest windows updates are now installed.
Having used and administered Xerox DocuMate scanners and OneTouch software (though not this specific model, and not with Windows 10), I can say that the order in which you install the scanner drivers and the OneTouch software is important. I have recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 3050 installed with Windows 10 Pro. Xerox Documate 510 Scanner Parts Xerox Documate 510 Scanner Review Xerox DocuMate 272 Scanner TWAIN Driver.
